And he believes strongly in giving back to his industry and community. He encourages the development of young entrepreneurs through his years of involvement with Junior Achievement, for which he has served on its board of directors for several years and he has been a long term business studies lecturer at Fanshawe College as well as being a faculty member of The Business Career College of Edmonton, Alberta since 2003.

He has been president of the Kent Life Underwriters and was Professional Development Chair for the Canadian Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors' (CAIFA) London chapter from 1998 to 2000.
